Title: Yeah, I'm At It Again

Well, I took the plunge. It's a Kimber 8400 L.A. Police Tactical in .300 Winchester Magnum. Based on the fact I never saw a .300 Win. Mag. I didn't like, this is my next long range project. The base is indeed steel, and in fact a 20 MOA taper. This will fit in just right for my plans to mount a Leupold Mark IV straight 16X 40 MM on it with, more than likely, Leupold Mark IV Rings. I like the 16X because it has a total of 140 MOA of vertical adjustment. The most of any Leupold.

The rifle is beautiful. Trued up bolt face, and glass bedding are just a couple of the features it has over more standard production guns. You can see the thickness change of the base with the 20 MOA taper. Well worth the hard earned coin.

I made the mistake of taking Melanie with me to the shop. She LOVES GUNS! No problem with the Kimber 8400. That was the plan. Then she saw this Kimber Stainless 1911, and this Ruger MK III TALO with the Laser engraved, wrap around grips that she couldn't live without. Needless to say it was an expensive day, but well worth it. We both came home happy.  Bill T.

Selling one your AKs cheap would help lighten the load. ;D Nice porn, but range reports, particularly on the Ruger, would be appreciated.

PS Get Melanie to post. We seem to just be getting one side of the story here. ;D

Any chance if I give you my new Wilson, you guys will adopt me and spoil me rotten?

That way everyone can hate both of us =)

Next week for sure. I'm anxious to shoot the Ruger too. The only bad thing is Mark II magazines won't work in a Mark III because of the side magazine release. So now I've got to keep magazines segregated between the 2 Mark II's I've got and the Mark III. Isn't "change" wonderful ????   Bill T.

The grips on that Mark are absolutely beautiful!  Sounds like a very nice day!

I have to admit I didn't fight too hard about the Kimber Stainless. It's a beautiful pistol. I only have one other 1911 and it's a Colt Gold Cup NRA 1971 Commemorative that I don't want to put a bunch of rounds through. This Kimber will take hardball as well as +P+, so we should be in good shape.  Bill T.

I feel the need to bring back the "I Hate billt because" thread  >:(

However, with two out of the three being someone else I think we can just say "I hate billt because of Melanie  ;)

Nice shopping trip.

A friend of mine uses two different colors of fingernail polish on the bases of the mags. Helps him distinguish quickly at a glance if they are mixed in his range bag.

Oh yeah, very nice guns to add to your already outstanding collection.......enjoy!!!!!!!

Yeah, even though my wife only has a passing interest in guns (as in she has her .44spl for SD and that's the limit), I know if I can ever get her to go with me she'll buy me a gun.   About once every year or two.

Your wife loves guns, goes to the shop with you, and buys a couple EXTRA guns you weren't there to buy, AND one of them's a KIMBER?!? She's even got GOOD TASTE in guns! You've gotta be the luckiest guy in the world.......

Yes she does, but I think I mentioned before, if she was the last woman on the surface of the Earth, you wouldn't want her! If you met her, you wouldn't believe they were sisters. She is a total control freak, who thinks she knows everything. A real "wiz kid", if you know what I mean. She is so "smart" that 2 years ago she bought a Mini Cooper automobile with a Visa Card, because she couldn't get an auto loan. Nothing like paying 21+% on a depreciating asset when everyone else is getting 0% to 3% auto loans. It's hard to believe they came from the same womb. I wouldn't wish her on my worst enemy! If she ever got hit in that thing, it will be like a cue ball hitting the rack on a fast break! Bill T.

Hopefully I'll get it out by the end of the week. I'm anxious to see how she prints with Sierra 190 Gr. Matchkings. We'll back it off to 500 yards for starters, then go from there. I'm loving these Bushnell 3200 Elite Tactical Models. This is my fifth one.  Bill T.

Looking forward to the range report!

Very nice, is this your second .300 win mag and your first Kimber rifle?

Looking forward to the range report!

This is actually my third .300 Win. Mag. My very first was a Remington 700 BDL I purchased new back in 1972. I still have it, and it is as accurate as the day I bought it. The second is my Savage 110 FCP-K I bought a few months back. It has been an excellent rifle as well. Being as I already have 2, plus a .300 Weatherby Mag in a Vanguard, it was a little hard to justify this one, but it really impressed me the way it was put together, and the action is butter smooth.

I'm hoping to get it out tomorrow if the wind dies down. Yesterday it was blowing over 30 MPH most of the day. Today it's a little better. We had a cold front come through yesterday and it was supposed to bring rain, but it never happened. If I don't make it tomorrow, I'll hold off until Monday. My club range gets quite crowded on the weekends.  Bill T.
