For TX residents: HB 47 reduces CHL class to 4 hrs
« on: November 17, 2012, 01:44:32 PM »
The Texas legislature only meets every two years and the next session will start soon.  November 12 was the first day for bill pre-filing and State Rep Dan Flynn wants to reduce the number of classroom hours required for a Concealed Handgun License to four.  Currently, folks getting their first CHL must take a 10-hour class.  This change, along with a reduction in the cost, is much needed in our state.

Good. Though in all honesty, I really enjoyed the CHL class I took there. It was very informative on the law and conflict avoidance. The range portion was fun too, as the instructor was very good about taking the time to improve our grips and stances. I considered it time and money well spent, not just a legal hurdle. I don't think classes should be necessary, as long as you can demonstrate you know the law, but at least the one I got was worthwhile.
