Thanks, ericire12 - I noted a big bump in hits from this forum, thought I'd pop by and check it out.  Hope everyone enjoys our little project.

We're getting ready to do another round of testing, this time focusing on a bunch of .380 ammo and new(er) small guns. Will be doing the testing in about a month, should have the data compiled and posted a month or so after that.

Happy shooting, everyone!

Jim, I used to put sight and fore end screw holes in Encore barrels.
I hate you for cutting off my work !  ( They were such artistic screw holes )  ;D
But putting your results online for us makes it all better.
Thanks, and welcome aboard.  ;D

Heh - thanks, Tom.  Let me tell you, we could have used your skills when we got to the point where the length of "barrel" was down to 2", and was completely enclosed within the housing shroud - with no sights, no laser, not even a little bit of barrel sticking out there by which to guess where the thing was pointed.   :o

Seems like a nice place y'all have here, and I'll drop in from time to time.

Welcome aboard, Jim.

I enjoyed the work you did. Very interesting, BUT.... I personally would have stopped after 5,000 rds and sold off 3,500 of the premium stuff to pocket a couple thousand $$$. I mean at some point it just becomes overkill. Did we really learn anything from 8,500 rds that we couldn't have learned from 5,000? ;) ;D

Thought I'd stop by, let everyone know that the additional test data I mentioned in July is now up on the BBTI site. I talk about it here on the BBTI blog: http://ballisticsbytheinch.wordpress.com/2010/09/10/new-data-posted-380-9mm-mak-and-9mm-ultra/
But you can find the specific results for the new .380 tests here: http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/380auto2010.html
the 9mm Mak tests here: http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/9mmmak.html  and the 9mm Ultra tests here: http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/9mmultra.html

Cheers to one and all -

Jim D.
