New AR Lower
« on: April 02, 2010, 02:58:38 PM »
Okay, I went and did it today.    Got the new AR lower.   Settled on the C3 Defense. http://c3defenseinc.com/  The mag well isn't as beveled as others, but then this is for the build up of a varmint gun, not so much a "tactical" one.  Being from Georgia, it's nice to have the "Hiram, GA" stamp.

This mates nicely with my ER Shaw barreled upper.   Next will be the Timney trigger, all the small parts, then the stock.

Oh, this is the enhanced model.......got it new from dealer for $149 !

Very nice, Alf.......been looking at one myself, funds permitting.

I don't know if you have built one before but I thought the biggest SOB was the pivot pin retaining spring and detent, Watch your eyes with that one as it WILL go ping on you.

I had a fellow, just yesterday in fact, tell me a little tale about that very spring and detent you speak of.......he still hasn't found it.

Ah, the labor of love,....Enjoy the build alf.

Get it built before those "varmints" get out of hand. ;)

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

[Guess I didn't "post" my last reply]

Anyway, I'm aware of the detent spring problem.   A friend of mine, a weekend dealer, is making me up a lower kit, springs, pins, Timney trigger, safety, magazine catch, bolt hold-open, AND EXTRA "little pieces".

Next will be the stock.  Gotta start looking at what's available and start saving the pennies again.

I like the VLTOR e-mod stock, although the new Magpul UBR (which was not available when I got the VLTOR) is also very nice. I just saw one at a gun show last weekend.

Both very pricey = lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of pennies. ::)
