Intro
« on: November 14, 2011, 01:37:45 PM »
I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself.  I have been working with leather since the 1970's when I started making off duty holsters for my fellow LEO's.  I am self taught and started with a book by Al Stohlman entited "How to Make Holsters"  this book is still available at most leateher supply houses.  In the early 1990's (1992) i joined SASS and started doing Cowboy Action Shooting and also began making gun rigs, sheaths, scabbards, and western related items.  However, I never gave up on the conceled carry leather and will be going full time next year when I retire.

I am glad to see this Leather Shop forum

Glad to see you here Outrider!

I have been doing "real" leather work since 2003 or 2004, but have dabbled with it some since the 90s. I got into CAS, then decided that my soft holsters that I had made would not work for competition, and I couldn't afford store bought. I found a piece of leather, and made myself a new set of holsters.
Everything since has been self taught, with the assistance of the CASCity Leather Shop forum, and a few videos once in awhile.

Most of what I make is cowboy related, but I have been branching out into the more modern world making some CCW type holsters. My real love is to recreate vintage gear, but the modern stuff is gaining an appeal.

I do leather a bit as well...ok, I do it full time! I have also been a cop for 14+ years....

I specialize in rifle slings and belts, but also do a Yaqui Slide and Scabbard Style holster (mainly 1911). I'll delve into other rigs if needed but like to make 1911 holsters!
