Two Guns
« on: February 03, 2012, 08:03:51 PM »
Ok,
After much experimenting with several types of handguns, Revolvers, Semi Autos, snubs, compacts, full size service pistols, I have arrived at the following question:
If you can only have two handguns,  only two handguns,  what would they be?  Say you only had the cash for two purchases.
Approach this from a practical standpoint.  What would be the best two to get by with?  What two would work best for you in
satisfying your self defense lifestyle/requirements?   It doesn't have to be a specific manufacturer, just two specific types.
What do you think?   I have my ideas but before I share them, what are yours?

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

For me?  Limited to two handguns to satisfy my self defense requirements?
A bobtail 1911 commander in .45acp for EDC, HD, and social work.
A 4" or 6" .357 revolver (I like 7-shot S&W 686s) for backwoods (nothing bigger than a black bear), backup EDC/HD.
YMMV

A commander-length 1911 for CCW/SD and a Ruger Super Blackhawk.

I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

Pretty narrow usage that you give, but based on that I would say Gov. model 1911 and a Ruger Mark III.  Change the criteria, and I will change my choices.

Glock 21SF and Glock 30SF. Or any other combination of a full sized Glock and it's compact partner in the same caliber.
