Learned something today....
« on: February 17, 2012, 09:33:29 PM »
Well I learned something today. I always make my Avenger patterns as a left handed pattern when drawing them out. Well, I had made my dad a left handed Glock 27 holster. Not a bad pattern, but needed a little tweaking here and there. So I made another lefty and decided it was a decent pattern.

Well, I made a righty to throw on the table, and found a serious flaw in the design. It seems that part of my stitching inside catches the corner of the ejection port. I tried to smooth it back in, gave it a dot of super glue and smoothed it out, etc, but it would still eventually hang up. I tried it on my pants, and unless I rocked it all around, it was not going to come out...
So today I had to lower the stitch line down on my pattern so that it is away from the port and do a little redesign work again.

Something to think about when designing holsters. Just because it works left handed, doesnt mean it will work as a right handed holster.
