Sadly, I am of the opinion that what happened in the Ukraine needs to happen here before there is any real or serious attempt at reform.
kongress is too entrenched, the handful of halfway decent folk in kongress cannot overcome the power and authority of the others.
The bureaucracy is jerry-rigged in the socialist mold, e.g. the EPA's recent decision - without the basis of law, in fact contrary to a law settled more than a century ago - handing over tens of thousands of acres of Wyoming to some Indian tribe - including the city of Rawlins.
The judiciary has been stuffed with progressives who will overturn solid majorities of citizens by ruling legal attempts at reform as "unconstitutional", e.g. voter ID laws.
Take McConnell, one of my senators. He is so thoroughly entrenched in the system - while trying to portray himself as an outsider and a conservative - that he voted for the cloture vote allowing the debt ceiling to be raised. He did not vote for raising the ceiling because he knew he could vote against it and it would pass. Thus, he allowed it to pass, while being able to hold up his bona fides as voting against it.
It is this sort of career scum bucket jackass politician that we need to rid ourselves of permanently.
