What kind of meat did you have in it?

Brunswick stew for supper last night.

What kind of meat did you have in it?

This version was straight pork like my grandpa made.
Frozen left-overs from a batch made for a gathering last year. I have several versions, all based on old recipes (from family and found).
My son makes a great version with pork and chicken and a friend makes one with pork and rabbit.

There's age-old arguments about what 'legit' Brunswick stew contains or doesn't contain and claims by various locations as to who made it first, etc. In actuality, from what I've read in some history accounts that it was really a 'catch-all' stew.....made with whatever the cook had on hand or could scrounge up to feed a working crew.

Pulled pork, baked beans, tater salad and cake.

Wife and I cooked for a church gathering and that was the menu. Probably have leftovers tomorrow.  8)

We made homemade chicken and shredded beef taquitos. Yumi made guacamole and red salsa while I fried up the taquitos to a golden brown. We topped them how we like and sprinkled some Mexican mix shredded cheese. Rice and beans on the side. 🤤

Cheese steak sandwich plate from a local deli shop in town for a mid-afternoon lunch, so I'll skip supper...... BUT, will follow up later with a piece of 12-layer chocolate cake.  8)
