I'm seriously considering getting a HoneyBaked ham and using the bone for soup. Maybe I'll save some money just buy one of their ham bones that still has a lot of meat on it where the slicer doesn't go all the way down. But I need to get two, one for bean soup and one for split pea. It would be a good way to use my 9 bucks in Piggy Points, instead of getting a sandwich. It's nice having a HoneyBaked store less than 2 miles away. When I was a kid we had to drive to an hour to the suburbs of Detroit to get a HoneyBaked ham.
Like someone else posted on reddit, "Honey baked ham Sells their Ham bones for 6.99. There is at least 3lbs of meat left on each one. With a little knife work you can have a nice looking ham for a fair price. Use the rest for stews!."
And at sawmillcreek .org, "Did you know that the Honey Baked Ham store sells the bones, after most of the meat has been removed by spiral slicing. Couple weeks ago, wife and I bought two, for $3.99 each. One had enough ham left on it to get us a couple meals, plus enough to make a BIG pan (half a steam tray) of Jambalaya, and then boil the rest of the bone to make Red Beans and Rice for about 30 people. Other bone was a bit larger, and currently resides in the freezer. Again, currently we are paying $3.99 each, but most likely closer to the holidays, the price will go up. Y'all eat yet?"
