Last night I had 3 beef empanadas, with M&M's for dessert.

I just put some Jalapeño Bacon Crispy Poppers in the toaster oven for breakfast. I may throw a pizza in after that.

Asiago Arancini. Parmesan risotto rice stuffed with asiago cheese and coated in a crispy panko crumb. I dipped them in basil pasta sauce until I ran out and ate the last 2 plain. They were crispy, cheesy, and good.

I'm eating Mac & Cheese Bites made with fontina, mozzarella, and provolone cheeses, topped with a bit of Bacon Jam. Mm,mm, good. With it I'm drinking the last of my rum mixed with a can of Dr. Pepper Blackberry soda and a can of Orange Cream Coke zero sugar. It's better than it probably sounds, but could use a little more alcohol.

I microwaved a bunch of Arby's curly fries. While they were in the toaster oven, I heated up the can of chili shown in the post about camping stoves and microwaves. This is some bad tasting chili. Not spoiled rotten, but bad. I've had Wolf brand chili before and it was good, but this is really bad. So was the other can I bought the same day. I added 3 kinds of hot sauce and a spoonful of chili powder so it doesn't taste as bad, then covered the plate full of fries with it. Too bad I didn't have any cheese to make chili cheese fries.

I ate the last of my curly fries with some Texas Ranch seasoning added, and dipped them in jalapeno ketchup. Now I'm ready to toss some chicken chunks in the microwave. I don't know if I'm going to have BBQ sauce or hot sauce on them.

I put bacon jam on my chicken and it was good. A little sweet. A little heat. A little bacon makes everything better.

Breaded white cheddar cheese curds dipped in mushroom spaghetti sauce. The directions on the bag of cheese curds is for deep frying only. But I never deep fry anything, so I baked them in the toaster oven. Then I had 2 each of Blue Ribbon brand imitation Good Humor Chocolate Éclair and Strawberry Shortcake bars. Better than nothing, but far from the best. And I'm drinking a pot of coffee, half caffeinated dark roast, and half decaf regular roast. The dark roast is so dark it tastes burnt, but it's good mixed half and half. That's somewhat similar to the Stockholm roast I used to order from Gevalia when they still made exceptional coffee. It was a medium-dark roast, the only one I've ever seen, and it was my favorite roast. In 2011, Kraft announced the retail launch of Gevalia in the United States, and it's not as good as the Swedish coffee, but still not bad. If you ever buy a bag of dark roast and don't like it, match it scoop for scoop with medium roast when you make a pot.

My new microwave oven is 2 cubic feet. I think my old one was only .9 cu ft, but held everything it needed to. It was only my second microwave, and the first with a rotating turntable. The turntable was 10 5/8" in diameter and the new one is 16", the size of an extra-large pizza at most places. I could easily fit a whole turkey in the microwave, but the size has caused a problem. I could set a plate on the counter in front of the old microwave, but can't even set a cup of coffee in front of this one unless the door is open. I'm going to swap positions between it and the 8-mode toaster oven which is a lot smaller. The toaster oven is on the peninsula and has a cord that's too short to plug it in and have it facing into the room. So I have walk on the other side to use it. Not a problem. My toaster and coffee maker are in the corner, next to and under the cabinets on the wall. I'm going to have the microwave facing the right way even if I have to use an appliance cord, which I may already have an extra one of. I use the microwave a lot and don't want to walk around to the corner of the kitchen to use it. Since the toaster oven is smaller I'll have about 8" of room in front of it, not counting the handle at the top of the door. It's also 7" narrower than the microwave, and setting next to the fridge there will be enough room on the other side of it to set a plate down.

I have some boxes of hardware and stuff setting on the counter that need to go in the basement, and there are always tools setting there until I take them down. Then I have to bring more up to work on stuff and they end up on the counter. It's a good thing I'm single. It seems like my 2-story house isn't big enough for me. And I can leave my 2 cast iron skillets on the stove all the time. My best friend's wife tells me that's a bachelor thing, and she doesn't tolerate that in her house. I didn't tell her that's why I'm single, but wish I would have thought of it at the time. I still have an old washer and dryer in the basement that need to be broken down so I can make a fire pit from the drums this summer. Lots of work, and no energy.
