KelTec takes ugly to a whole new level
« on: January 16, 2025, 11:59:15 PM »
Kel-Tec takes ugly to a whole new level with it's new PR57, a compact concealed carry pistol chambered in 5.7x28mm. Featuring a rotary barrel and a top-loading design, it’s ultra-lightweight and maintains an impressive 20-round capacity. The top-loading design makes the frame profile slim and compact. 20 rounds fit into the grip of the gun which can be manually inserted one at a time, or by using two of the provided 10-round stripper clips for a quick speed load. The PR57’s innovative rotary barrel design sets it apart not only in appearance, but by dramatically reducing it’s overall weight. This pistol is nearly 40% lighter than the next lightest 5.7mm pistol on the market. Its design is not just unique, it’s practical. Fine motor skills are greatly diminished in high-stress situations. The PR57 focuses on a minimalistic approach that reduces room for error. Simple, compact, and easy to use. The PR57 is designed to be the perfect everyday carry pistol for everyone. Combining practicality with innovation, it offers reliable performance in a sleek, user-friendly form. The PR57 comes with two 10-round stripper clips and optics plate. Weight Unloaded, 13.86 oz. If you're curious about where the plastic from your curbside recycling ends up, take a look.

I don't see them selling very many of those.
1. It IS UGLY!
2. The (now) outdated loading method using clips (Yes, real clips, not magazines) is not a "feature" I would care for.
From a carry gun, it is totally useless (IMHO)
The time for action is upon us and the enemy is at our gates. Let us not allow them one more inch of advancement but instead throw them through the gates of Hell.

I wasn't lying.

Clips for internal mags in pistols were "okay" in 1911 when Steyr Mannlicher developed the Steyr M1912. It operated by the barrel  rotating to unlock from the slide too. Is Keltec trying to make a Matty Mattel plastic POS version of the Steyr?

It looks to me like a half-baked attempt to end-run Ban States where they forgot about ten-round limits.

I don’t know, assuming they get by the various states review boards, it is at least 3/4 baked.  Might be a great boating/fishing pistol.

You wouldn't have to worry about dropping a mag overboard. Just a clip with half a mag worth of ammo. But I think the biggest thing was getting around detachable magazines of "high capacity" as the gun banners call them. I just looked at the pictures again and that thing offends my senses.
