My Grandfather sporterized her back before I was even around, he did a great job, but I, like MB, would love to have her back to original.  It shoots so darn good I even hate to mess with it.

Love the tactical toaster,... ;D, its right up there with the tupperware pistols.... ::)

If MB and I are going to hell for having a sporterized Mauser, well I'll bring the Baby Back Ribs and beer, and hope for the best,..

PS: We'll need ice,....

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

+1 on that. That thing is painful to look at. My eyes started to water just from thinking about looking at it again, and I'm one of those guys who isn't bothered by sporterized Mausers. IF it's well done. And it's not 100% condition with all matching numbers, a Nazi-marked collectible, or something like that.

... CRAYON

I had to put a link to this in the UGLY GUN thread.

I'm thinking all the junk in the background is really just his parts supply for future gun projects.
The scope could be mounted a little higher off the bore; I think some of that electrical conduit
could be fashioned into some sort of periscope-scope.  With an inventive mind like that,
the possibilities are endless.  I think it was Letterman who said, "If you put enough monkeys with
typewriters in one room, eventually the smell would be unbearable."

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking too!  :(

Strangely enough, a butt-ugly Mauser project fell into my lap this week. My father the shade-tree gunsmith once built a rifle for my weird sister's boyfriend...the gun's an old Siamese Mauser converted to 45/70. The long since ex-boyfriend is moving out of the country and he very graciously offered to send me the old gun because he thought I should have it.

The military stock's been "sporterized," and it's fitted with a receiver-mounted peep site. The gun's been used on deer and elk, though, and has a proven track record. I'm fond of 45/70, in any case.

Hmmmmmmmmm.........
