I agree with Curries on both points. yes it under played the level of violence and severely compressed the time line required ( think Ireland 600 years of resisting English domination ) But it DID have the scene with the little girl getting shot for wearing the mask which illustrates the sort of things that would happen. Also thought the interrogation part was thought provoking, the way the interrogator built a relationship with the prisoner.
I think you misconstrued my post, my position on this subject, as far as I can tell, is the same as yours. I think most people who own firearms will submit to being disarmed in the face of deadly force, or some other form of duress.
