SO THERE I WAS.   There I was.

The Beretta 2021 LOCAP USPSA Nationals presented by Federal  (Want to guess how many times we heard that?  20 to be exact.)

I opted for the Match Certified ammo, just so I could buy 1,000 rounds of it.  Federal Syntech AP 150gr.  I had never used it before.  But now I was committed to shooting it.  I knew a) It would probably work flawlessly.  I mean it's Federal's good stuff designed specifically for compeititon.  b) It wouldn't make power factor.   c)  I had no idea where my Point of Impact was going to be.

First shots were at 9am and I was on bay C2.   Warm up range was  on A5, 1/4 mile away, and guess what?   No shooting before...   guess...   9am.  I went into the first stage cold with new ammo.   a)  It shot flawlessly.   b) It was light shooting and by the skin of my teeth I mad PF on the last test shot (#7)  (125.05).  Of course had it not then the MD would have give me a wavier.  c) Pretty much went where my reloaded 147gr rounds went.

AND I HAVE 500+ ROUNDS LEFT OVER.     Bwahh-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.

264 ft/lbs ME. "Optimized for action shooting sports' power factor requirements." Some people say it's the best ammo for a suppressed 9mm.

I've also been ordering from Detroit Ammo Co. They're the first multi-vendor marketplace where Federal Firearms Licensed manufacturers are able to sell products free from discrimination. When you sign up for DAC Reload for $99/year, you get free shipping on all orders, even if you only order a box or two at a time, saving you around 15% on your ammo. Plus you can subscribe to get ammo delivered every month. You decide the quantity of ammo, and how long you want the subscription to last. I signed up for 50 rounds/month of .380 ACP for 3 months at $20, so I'd have some more FMJ on hand. They have a few Ballistic Machinist offerings on sale for 15% off, so I ordered more 357 Defender Slugs and Steel Dumbbell Slugs. If you haven't seen any of the videos on Ballistic Machinist shotgun slugs, check out TaoFladermaus on YouTube. That's not the only place to find the videos, but they have a lot of  cool videos about some really weird slugs.

The price is going up from here.  Commercial use of Lake City is history for now.  Vista just sold out to a foreign entity too.

And yes, I just bought some self-defense ammo to keep a fresh supply.

Midway USA still has IMI which is great, long lasting ammo.  M855 SS109 in stripper clips with speed loaders: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/102559224?pid=325832

I may be out of the $9.90/brick ammo I got on sale way back when, but I still have a couple bricks of newer ammo. You can bet your last dollar, your life, your wife, your trusty old hound, etc., I didn't pay that much for it. Probably not even 1/10 of that.

i was going through the shelves and still have a few of the $8.99, 550 round, cartons of Federal. Then some a little more of similar a little higher. Sad part is the CCI standard velocity that my Mark VI likes to eat.

That's the same group that owns Fiocchi Ammunition (and TATRA TRUCKS and a bunch of other companies), so at least it's going to someone who knows a thing or 3 about making ammo. It sucks that it will be imported, not home-grown, and there's no telling how much it will cost when it gets here.

SUBSONIC 7.62x39mm 150gr JSP, Tentative Backorder Ship Date 1/22/24. $25.99 for 20 Rounds. The Muzzle Velocity of 1000 Feet Per Second and Muzzle Energy of 333 Foot Pounds from a rifle makes it nearly identical in power to a 158 grain .38 Special fired from a revolver. It's even less powerful than some standard pressure 158 grain .38 Specials. But if you want to quiet down your 7.62x39mm, this ammo should do the trick. I personally like pistol caliber carbines, but not rifle ammo that's less powerful than most of my pistols. At least it's more powerful than the .380 ACP ammo I got this week. It has 240 ft/lbs of Muzzle Energy out of a 3.1″ barrel.
