I looked out the window of my back door today and there was a small box setting there. FedEx dropped it off and I didn't know what was in it. It was a box of Lehigh XD ammo in .45 ACP that I forgot I ordered. I got it from Detroit Ammo Co. for the same price Lehigh sells it for, $35.99. Too bad I didn't get these on sale. It uses a 135 gr. Lehigh Defense Xtreme Defense solid copper bullet at 1,250 fps from a 5" barrel. That works out to be 468 ft/lbs, and that's from real gun, not a test barrel which usually have higher velocities. That's pretty good for not being a +P round. And it should be over 600 ft/lbs from a 16" barrel if anyone shoots them from a carbine. They're made for defense like the name says, and don't have the incredible penetration their Xtreme Penetrator bullets are known for. Like going all the way through 2 blocks of ballistic gel in 9mm. They also make Controlled Fracturing 170 grain bullets in .45 ACP. They're $56.95 per box of 20, and I won't be buying them anytime soon. That uses a 170 grain bullet at 1050 fps, for 416 ft/lbs of energy. That's not bad, but it's only 5 ft/lbs more than Winchester claims for its 185 grain Silvertip at 1,000 FPS. That was one of the best .45 loads available before all of the gee-whiz "magic bullets" were made to pass the FBI test protocols.

Finally, something I want on sale 20% off at Detroit Ammo Co. I just ordered half a case, 250 rounds, of .45 ACP ball ammo. I have no use for the other 7 items on sale.

Sportsman's has wwb  556 for 11.69 a box of 20 until mid night  tonight.  That's about 58 cent each.   Not great, but still cheaper that most places on line even with higher quantities. Atleast when you factor in shipping.  I bought  200  mainly for the brass as new lake city Winchester brass is about .35 cents each.   Going to put it towards my recreating mk 262 mod 1 c project.  I have one ar that I built for it that shoots sub half inch for 5 shots.   My best was a .34" for 3.   It probably  shoots better than I do in it.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
